This mixed media drawing was on display at the 10th Anniversary Exhibition of Perthshire Open Studios in Perth Civic Hall. The exhibition was part of the inaugural Platform Festival, a week-long celebration of contemporary art and culture across Perth & Kinross at the end of March 2017.

The Second of Winter Solstice

The drawing was inspired by a friend’s poem about his vision of winter solstice:
“on that day creatures living under rocks crawl to sit on long stems of the moon flower” […]
“all red turns pink takes a breather and returns to green and all shall be well for one second”.

Perthshire Open Studios 2016

The exhibition of artwork and crafts in Spittalfield, Perth & Kinross was a resounding success. In early September our group SEVEN welcomed over 400 visitors to the charming village hall. Paintings, linoprints, bronze sculptures, ceramics, hand turned wooden bowls, pebble/driftwood pictures and fragrant organic beauty products garnered admiring comments, sales were made and commissions placed. We put a lot of time and energy into this event – interesting conversations and the satisfied faces of our visitors made it all worthwhile.

Candlelight Dinner

Another one of my paintings prepared for Perthshire Open Studios 2016. It is a still life, called Candlelight Dinner. I don’t place items for a still life in front of me when I paint, I remember or invent them and arrange them so that they tell a story. The viewer is invited to find their own stories when looking at the image.

Perthshire Open Studios 2014

My new studio in Kettins will be part of the Perthshire Open Studios week in September 2014.
For 9 days more than 220 Perthshire artists will open their workspaces to the public. You, the visitor, will have the unique opportunity of stepping into their world, in 138 venues all across the area. Some offer ‘have a go’ sessions or a demonstration, some provide refreshments, all offer a welcome and will be delighted to see you. Pick up the studio guide in libraries, galleries, gift shops and many other places.
