Upcycled furniture: table

During my time in Canada I did this custom order for a client in Vancouver BC. The lady in question had painted a small table in this beautiful rust colour and then felt unsure about how to accentuate the table top. The piece reminded me of a gambling table, so I decided on a decor of squares like a board game.

Exhibition: Platform 2018, Perth

Platform 2018 event at Frames Gallery, Perth: artists and makers who participate in Perthshire Open Studios are holding an exhibition featuring paintings, photography, work in wood, glass, ceramics. One of my mixed media paintings is on display.

Upcycling furniture: work in progress

I’m painting more second hand furniture for my weekend exhibition ‘Vintage Upcycled’ during our Coupar Angus Snowdrop Festival 2018. Printmaking: linoprint Refrigeration Machine

The first print from my studio in 2018: a linoprint based on a photo of the refrigeration unit of an ice cream maker in South Wales, just outside Machen near Caerphilly. Machines like this fascinate me with their mysterious cables, switches, metal grills, pipes. I went a few times to the ice cream parlour on the same premises when I lived in Wales, and the photo in question had been waiting in my collection of promising motifs for quite a while. Cutting the A4 linoplate was laborious, this print format is relatively small for all the tiny details that needed to be included.
The print edition is small, some prints are hand coloured, some are combined with pale Chine collé.
