Perthshire Open Studios 2017

Less than two weeks to go until the start of Perthshire Open Studios 2017! This year I’m going to open my Kettins studio to the public, together with fellow artist Aileen M Stackhouse. Aileen shows work based on her ongoing research project into the history, geology and ecology of the River Ericht. I show recent linoprints and still life paintings together with new drawings and painted recycled furniture.
During the Open Studio days Aileen and I will be doing demonstrations of drawing and linoprinting.

The full programme of Perthshire Open Studios 2017 is listed in the excellent event brochure, available in many shops, museums, libraries, cafés all over Perthshire and Kinross-shire. You can also find it online.

More furniture upcycling: Kandinsky is the name of this piece – the first one I ever painted, transforming a really drab and flimsy chest of drawers into an eye-catching focal point. Exploring the work of this great Russian pioneer of abstract art, I came across his painting Swinging (1925). Continue reading Upcycling furniture: chest of drawers
